Reaching out to the Cambodian Children

8-11 May 2008

Reaching out to Cambodian Children
Chew Hua Seng Foundation (CHSF) and volunteers went to Cambodia, Siem Reap from the 8-11 May 2008. We visited 3 Schools and 2 Orphanages during the trip.
- Wat bo Primary School
- Chong Khneas Primary School
- Irvin Spitler Primary School

The 2 orphanages that we visited were managed by local tourist guides, each centre had between 20-50 children were under their care.
Most often, they will try to accept all children who were referred to them or sent by their parents who could not afford to take care of them.
Most of the tourist guides during their work met many homeless and abandoned young children, thus they started their own orphanages and they had to rely financial aid and support from tourists and NGOs (non-government organsations).

During the trip, we bought stationary, uniforms, exercise books and slippers with the money contributed by Chew Hua Seng foundation (CHSF).
Many friends who knew we were going on this trip also donated many story books, clothes, blankets and educational toys to the children.

This trip was indeed fruitful and left us with many wonderful memories with their warm hospitality and smiles. We will definately make another trip to visit more schoold and orphanages next year (2009) and hope to reach out more children.
